Interview with Vytautas Krasnickas from Lithuanian team (Apr 16)

Tomorrow, 17th of April, is a big day in two countries - Latvia and Slovenia are both having groundbreaking national clean-up days - huge numbers of participants are expected to take part. Here is a short interview with Lithuanian action manager Vytautas.

How many people are you expecting? How many have registered so far? 

We are expecting about 100 000 registrered people (online and paper registration during event and about 100 000 nonregistered people.. There are about 20 000 online registered people sofar...

What will happen on the clean-up day - how is the volunteer action organized?

All Lithuania is included into the event, all institutions and organizations are involved. All polititians are in. There will be direct TV translation on TV3 and 7 concerts in Vilnius, Panevezys, Klaipeda, Siauliai, Alytus, Marijampole, Taurage. There will be about 20 000 planted trees during event. Everything is done without money and just with support of volunteers entuziazm.

Who are the biggest supporters of the campaign so far?

The biggest supporters: President Dalia Grybauskaite, prme minister Andrius Kubilius and all municipalities.

What has been the hardest thing so far, while preparing for the clean-up?

To make all the system work correctly and not to double the works, functions beetween government and our organizators. To make volunteers accountable for their actions. We have not very good communications with volunteers in regions and our centre.
